Privacy Policy
MCUniverse is operated by TNOONE, based in British Columbia, Canada. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it when you use mcuniverse.tnoone.com.
We collect only what we need to operate the platform. We do not sell your data. We do not run advertising. We do not build profiles for marketing purposes.
| Data Type | What & Why |
|---|---|
| Account data | Username, email address, hashed password. Required to create and maintain your account. |
| Server listing data | Server name, IP/hostname, description, version, banner image. Submitted voluntarily by you and displayed publicly. |
| Server status data | Player count, MOTD, version — queried automatically from your server at regular intervals and displayed on your listing. |
| IP addresses | Logged temporarily for vote deduplication and abuse prevention. Not linked permanently to user profiles. |
| Payment data | If you purchase a tier, payment is handled by a third-party processor (Stripe, PayPal). We receive confirmation of payment and your tier level — we do not receive or store your card number or full payment details. |
| Usage data | Standard server logs (pages visited, timestamps, browser/OS type) collected automatically by the hosting environment. Used for debugging and service monitoring. |
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve the Service.
- Display your server listing to visitors.
- Authenticate your account and protect against unauthorized access.
- Deduplicate votes and detect abuse of the voting system.
- Process tier purchases and manage your tier status.
- Send transactional emails — account verification, password resets, tier confirmations, and enforcement notices. We do not send promotional email without your explicit consent.
- Investigate reports of policy violations and enforce our Terms of Service.
Your data is stored on servers in Canada. We retain account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal information within a reasonable timeframe, except where we are required to retain it for legal purposes or to resolve open disputes.
IP address logs used for vote deduplication are retained for a limited rolling window and are not archived long-term.
Server listing data that has been publicly visible (name, IP, description) may persist in third-party search engine caches beyond our control after deletion. We have no ability to force removal from those caches.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:
- Payment processors (Stripe, PayPal): receive transaction data necessary to process your payment. Their privacy policies govern how they handle that data.
- Hosting infrastructure: our hosting provider has incidental access to server logs as part of operating the environment. They are bound by data processing agreements.
- Legal requirements: we may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public.
We do not use third-party advertising networks or analytics platforms that track users across sites.
We use a small number of first-party cookies necessary for the Service to function:
- Session cookie: keeps you logged in during your visit. Expires when you close your browser or log out.
- Theme preference: stores your light/dark mode preference across sessions.
We do not use third-party tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or cross-site tracking of any kind. You may disable cookies in your browser, but doing so will prevent login functionality from working.
Depending on where you are located, you may have rights regarding your personal data. Regardless of jurisdiction, we honor the following requests:
- Access: you may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: you may update most of your account information directly from your account settings. For other corrections, contact us.
- Deletion: you may request deletion of your account and associated personal data.
- Withdrawal of consent: you may unsubscribe from email communications at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email we send.
To exercise these rights, contact us at support@tnoone.com. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe and no later than 30 days.
If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have rights under the GDPR. We make reasonable efforts to accommodate those rights. If you have an unresolved concern, you may contact your local data protection authority.
MCUniverse requires users to be at least 13 years of age to register an account, consistent with our Terms of Service. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected such information, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a minor under 13 has registered, please contact us.
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including password hashing and HTTPS encryption in transit. No system is perfectly secure; we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access, disclosure, or loss of data will never occur. In the event of a breach affecting your personal data, we will notify affected users as required by applicable law.
MCUniverse is operated from British Columbia, Canada. By using the Service, you consent to your data being processed in Canada in accordance with Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA and BC's Personal Information Protection Act). If you are accessing the Service from outside Canada, your data may be subject to the laws of the country in which it is stored.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify registered users by email. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
